- To make garlic croutons for topping soups or in salads, cut 3-4 thick slices of wholemeal bread into 1 cm cubes or use small cookie cutters to make shapes or letters.
- Toss with 1 tblsp olive oil, 1 clove of crushed garlic and a pinch of salt.
- Melt 1 tblsp of butter in a large frying-pan until it is foaming, then add the croutons and fry them quickly, moving them around so that they toast evenly on all sides.
- Alternatively, you could toast the croutons in a preheated oven.
