How2 Store Eggs

Eggs are so versatile, I always stock a dozen or two at my home. Here are some proven ways to store eggs.

  • Keep eggs at room temperature for best cooking results, and use within 10 days of purchase.
  • You can also store them in your fridge's egg compartment especially during summer.
  • If using them while cooking, remove them in advance from the fridge and bring to room temperature before cooking.
  • Store them pointy side up always.

! Tips
  • To prevent eggshells from cracking when hard-boiling eggs, add a pinch of salt to the water.
  • If the eggshell cracks during boiling, add a splash of white vinegar to stop the white from spreading.
  • To tell if the egg is fresh, place it in a bowl of water. If it lies flat on the bottom it is fresh, but if the pointed end floats up it is old. This is because the air sac in the tip expands as the egg ages.
