How2 Check your Luggage Weight before going to the Airport

It's always a good idea to weigh your luggage at home, before going to the airport to make sure it isn't over the required limits, as airline excess baggage fees are quite hefty.

1) You will definitely need some bathroom weighing scales. If you don't have one, borrow one from friends or you can buy a used scale for a very cheap price.
You first weigh yourself. Pick up the luggage, and weigh yourself with the luggage. Subtract both the weights and you get the weight of the luggage.

2) You will most certainly find a large weighing scale at most airports before check-in, where you can weigh your bags. Get an extra duffel bag along with you, so if your bags weight too much, just step aside and pack the extra stuff into the duffel bag, which you can arrange to return home with your friends or family who have come to see you off at the airport. Or, you may even consider dumping things that you can afford to let go, into the bin to avoid paying excess baggage fees, especially for things that are easily dispensable/replaceable.

3) You can go to your local "junk" yard, they have scales that they routinely weight metals that they take in, and ask to weigh your bags.
