How2 Make Kada for Coughs


A concoction called 'Kada' is a home-remedy for nasty Coughs. It doesn't taste great but is effective. Most of the ingredients can be found in Asian/Indian food stores.


White onion quartered
1 inch Dry Ginger
few Mint/Peppermint leaves
1/2 tsp Ajwain/Carom seeds
1/2 tsp Fennel seeds
1/2 tsp Linseed
1 Clove
3-4 Peppercorns
1 Star Anise
Optional: some Jaggery (or honey)
  1.  Boil all above items in 3-4 cups of water for atleast 20-30 mins on moderate heat.
  2. Cool and store in glass jar/bottle in the fridge.
  3. Drink it hot; approx. 1/4 cup every 4 hours.
